Minimum Wage

What is the minimum wage in California; is it different than the federal minimum wage?

On January 1, 2002, the minimum wage jumped from $6.25 an hour in California to $6.75 per hour. The federal minimum wage is $5.15 an hour. In California and most other states, however, an employer must pay the greater per hour rate. The U.S. Department of Labor's Employment Standards Administration, Wage & Hour Division webpage at http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd  has a link to "State Minimum Wage" rates for all states.
